UPDATE: GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED

You Could Win a Whole Foods Gift Card!

Stonyfield's Know Your Food campaign

Now that I know I have your attention, I want to share the details of the “Know Your Food” campaign from Stonyfield.  They have recently launched Stonyfield Food Superheroes, a light-hearted and interactive campaign inviting food lovers to transform themselves into Food Superheroes by showing off their powers to support a healthy, sustainable food system through the small actions they take each day.

For every Food Superhero profile created, Stonyfield will donate $1 to FoodCorps, a national nonprofit organization that addresses childhood health through food by working directly in schools in limited-resource communities.

So what about that giveaway that I mentioned at the beginning of the post?  As a way to kick off this campaign, Stonyfield wants to turn us all into Food Superheroes!  That means one of you lucky readers will receive a $50.00 gift card to Whole Foods Market in order to purchase foods that make you a Stonyfield Food Superhero!

Last week I went to Whole Foods on my lunch break so I could shop for my own super foods!  Once I got a cart, I quickly started filling my basket in the produce section with organic peaches, strawberries and locally grown figs.

Once I got to the checkout counter, I knew that I had probably spent more than $50.  Including my lunch from the hot bar and a ginger cookie for dessert, my total was about $70 for all of the groceries below.  My biggest splurge was on the Alaskan salmon, which was on sale for $8.99 a pound.

My grocery haul included: avocados, organic strawberries, figs, Brussel sprouts, organic wheat crackers, organic crushed tomatoes, my favorite chai tea, balsamic and olive oil salad dressing, fresh mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, pineapple, organic onions, organic peaches, Oikos non-fat yogurt in assorted flavors, Oikos frozen greek yogurt, Stonyfield frozen yogurt, sweet potato chips and 3/4 lb of Alaskan salmon.
