One of my favorite things about having family visit us in Dallas, is the chance to take them out to new places to eat. This weekend is no exception, as we have Trey’s cousin Nick in town for the weekend.
Friday night we decided to finally use a Groupon that I purchased almost two months ago for Deep Sushi, which is located in Deep Ellum near downtown Dallas.
I wanted to start the night off with a cocktail so I chose the Tokyo Sunrise. I think the Crème D’Almond is what convinced me to try this drink.
When my drink arrived, it looked refreshing. It was a tad on the sweet side, so I knew I would be sipping on it most of the night. Good thing too because it was STRONG. Admittedly, I am a lightweight so one drink is all I need with dinner.
We were starving so I ordered an appetizer of edamame served Deep Sushi style, which is tossed in sesame oil with garlic, salt and pepper. I love hot edamame which is why we ate it all before I realized that we did not take a picture.
Trey was in charge of ordering the sushi, but I did pick one roll called the New York City roll. I can’t remember everything that was in it but it included a combination of friend shrimp and crab.
At this point of the evening I stopped taking pictures because 1) the lighting in the restaurant was terrible and my pictures were not very good 2) the extremely loud table next to us was a little distracting and 3) did I mention that my drink was really strong? We were also busy devouring our food and enjoying our kid free night out.
I had another Groupon for breakfast on Saturday so check back soon to see what wonderful food we had this morning…

I was thinking you got some great light in that last photo. Groupons are the best! That is how my kids discovered frozen yogurt shops like Pinkberry and Yogurt Zone.
That looks so good I LOVE SUSHI!!! I wouldn’t have been wild about the sweet drink but I would have went crazy over the endamame and sushi mmmmmmmmm!
